1. What is VAW helpline?

The Multi-Sectoral Programme on Violence Against Women (MSPVAW) of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs has established VAW helpline to give proper information to the victims and their family members for various supports.

3. How many numbers are included with the helpline?

This network includes the telephone, fax, mobile and e-mail number of One Stop Crisis Centers at Public Medical College Hospital in six divisional headquarters, National Forensic DNA Profiling Laboratory at Dhaka Medical College, National Trauma Counseling Centre and Project Implementation Unit of Multi-Sectoral Programme on Violence Against Women at Department of Women Affairs.

4. Why the VAW helpline is necessary?

The People in the community and family need basic information regarding what steps will have to be undertaken immediately after incidence. Moreover, the people in general do not know what to do, where to go, whom to consult for getting immediate remedy. The existence of a helpline for the victims of violence is required for guiding them to the service centers and giving them proper advice in recovering the shock of the incidence. A set of telephone numbers may be helpful for the victims and their family members for getting proper guidance in getting access to justice.
